Why a Lucknow company files with Kanpur
Lucknow is the state capital, but MCA lists Uttar Pradesh's Registrar of Companies offices at an address in Kanpur, not Lucknow. Since February 2026 the state has two registrars, Uttar Pradesh-I and Uttar Pradesh-II, each covering its own districts. We confirm which one covers your Lucknow address before filing.
For incorporation the location barely matters: MCA's Central Registration Centre handles the application online. The UP registrar comes in afterwards, for annual returns, changes in the company and any notice.

One duty for the whole state
A Lucknow company pays the same UP duty on its charter documents as a company in any other UP district. The office address does not change the rate.
No state PT step
There is no professional tax registration to plan for after incorporation in Uttar Pradesh.
Shop registration
Under the amended UP shops law, a Lucknow office registers once it employs 20 or more people.
